Menopause: Honoring the Wisdom in the Change

Menopause is a natural biological shift that I also found to be a close encounter with my Self, the feeling of a deep personal reckoning that dissolved the layers of who I thought I was, clearing the path to return home to who I am.
Menopause stirs up everything we thought we knew about our bodies, our rhythms, and our identities. In a culture that celebrates productivity over thoughtful action and youth over wisdom, it can feel like we're being pulled away from ourselves just when we need grounding the most. This season of change begins as an unraveling with old certainties coming loose and old identities clearing the space for you to come home to your Self.
In my experience, that unraveling isn't graceful, and it's rarely peaceful, especially during menopause, when everything is shifting with little warning. One day you wake up and it's like your body has changed the rules overnight. Hot flashes appear out of nowhere. Brain fog rolls in like a slow, lingering storm. Sleep becomes elusive without explanation. Emotions swing in unexpected directions. And somewhere in the middle of all that, you start wondering: Whose body is this?
If that sounds familiar, know this: It's okay if you've resented your body, disconnected from it, or tried to manage it like your to do list. That's part of the process, the coming undone that has to happen before anything new can take shape.
What falls apart isn't lost. It's cleared, so that you can return to yourself, your wholeness. Beneath the frustration, the discomfort, and the confusion, know that you're not separate from your body. You are your body, the wisdom, the strength, and the experiences.
The path to returning to yourself isn't a straight line. It's a slow reconstruction, breath by breath — with soft breaths, small surrenders, and the gentle work of learning to trust yourself again. Let this be the time you stop fighting your body because you are already whole.
In the chaos of hormonal shifts and societal pressure, it's easy to forget that your body is still a sacred place, your partner in this journey. These changes are a reminder that this healing will lead you to who you've always been, returning with the awareness and connection to your innate wisdom.
Sometimes change has to get ugly in order to reveal the beauty of who you truly are. Trust whatever arises. Every small moment of compassion, every breath, every pause is part of the journey. This body, in all its change and wisdom, is still yours. Let it be enough. Let it be home.
